News from the front

Well this post if for my northern neighbors, because honestly, I’m sure most of my local family and friends are going through the exact same things we are!
We have been hit with an unusual Winter Storm. Monday night we had a ice storm and a bit of snow. Our town has basically shut down. There is an inch or two of ice on absolutely everything, including the roads Cory even stayed home from work on Tuesday. That is mainly due to the fact that I had a work deadline and had to complete it.
All day Tuesday while we were home it rained, and froze almost immediately where it fell. All night Tuesday Cory and I lay in bed and listened to huge cracks and crashes as limbs broke off of the huge trees that surround our house.
You can see above the pine trees that are to the left of our house have lost almost all of the limbs on their north sides. Since this picture, a lot of the branches on the other sides have cracked and fallen off too. See a few more pictures I took here.
So now it has started to snow in earnest, and will accumulate two to four inches according to the news. Luckily we have plenty of food (and coffee, thanks Dear) and as long as we have power we should be fine. I have no clue how long we will be stuck in the house, but after two days I am going a bit stir crazy. Cory escaped to work today, and as of this morning he said the main roads were mainly slush, but they should be freezing back by now I would think.
Every so often I hear a huge crack, and then a swoosh and another crash as the tree branches hit the ground. The huge sugar maples in our back yard are loosing branches right and left. Most of which seem to be hitting the roof right above my head. Damages are all over the news, and our neighbor’s siding has been ripped down. Our pitiful (original) siding seems to holding on with the strength of steel, of course, since we would love to have our homeowner’s insurance cover new stuff. Of course. :)
When I was out snapping pictures, I saw a minimum three tree branches fall. I’ve been out a few times. Once to check things out, another time to check and make sure our roof is still intact after a particularly loud crash, and then again after another crash.
So we are keeping safe and warm, and giving thanks that there is a nice pot roast in the crock-pot.
**Updated to add: oops, forgot to link to the pictures, it is fixed now!**

Be... erm, nice. My fragile ego can't take too much honesty. Seriously though, I do love comments. Please tell me what you think!
