Well the big weekend is almost over. Mostly. I plan to do nothing else this evening except cuddle up next to Cory while he plays his new Xbox game “Fable” and crack open a trashy romance novel.
So Moose and I were off Friday because of Croup II. He was okay most of the day, except during nap and nighttime where the congestion gets the best of him. He is mostly okay now, the fever has fled, last showing up on Friday morning. We finished laundry and watched cartoons most of the day. I took advantage of nap to make some very yummy Pumpkin Chocolate Bars (recipe to come!).
Saturday dawned cool and cloudy but turned clear mid-day. We all breathed an audible sigh of relief to be able to host the pumpkin party outside. The party was an absolute hit, totally surpassing my expectations. We had a ton of kids show, and several of the moms told me what a great idea the pumpkin painting was. I’ll tell the full story when I get my pictures in. That’s right, I had Ariel at ...with a side of sunshine take the pictures for the party. Not only was it a serious load off my mind, I am sure she got some better shots than I would have. So the full story of the party (don’t worry I plan to write it now so I don’t forget anything) should come in two weeks.
Not only did I have my “personal” photographer for the party, I asked a friend of mine, Stacy, to help me organize and assist during the party. Totally blowing apart our newly formed boundaries of friendship and overstepping as many friend borders as possible. She agreed and was more help than I could ever have imagined. I don’t know if I would have made it through the night without my “personal assistant”. I am thinking about hiring her full-time, what about it, Stacy? Wanna pick up my groceries and run errands for me? Do you do windows?
Grandy and Mark made it to the pumpkin party as well, and both managed to whine a bit about mom being out of town, just enough for me to invite them over for dinner. And what did they want? Fried chicken of course. Hmm maybe I should put that recipe up too? Would you guys be interested in that one?
So Sunday afternoon we spent carving a huge pumpkin we picked up at the grocery. Moose could have cared less unfortunately. Cory and I were more into it. Turns out Cory is a world-class carver. Who knew? He did enjoy our lighting ceremony we had later with Grandy and Mark (see above pic). And we took more pictures which will be up soon.
Cory came up with the very cool idea to plant some of the pumpkin seeds, and next year at the pumpkin party, the kids can get their pumpkins off the vine and paint or carve them! How cool is that? Plus, how many of you are surprised Cory is thinking like that when you know how he feels about Halloween?! Right.
So it looks like the pumpkin party will start to be an annual thing, and we can’t wait. Now that book is calling my name and the spot by Cory is not going to warm itself...
Remember to check out my recipe section the next few days. I will be spotlighting Halloween recipes that I made for the pumpkin party that were a huge success.

Be... erm, nice. My fragile ego can't take too much honesty. Seriously though, I do love comments. Please tell me what you think!
