I picked Moose up from daycare the other day, and he had an accident note in his pocket along with his other daily forms. This is a reoccurring thing, as his balance is horrible and his head seems to be a magnet for all things pointy and hard. So I sighed and quickly skimmed it.
“Wesley was playing with a friend and reached over and bit him/her on the finger.”
Very similar to the note last week that stated another one of his “friends” hit him in the head with a toy. I know they are just babies and they don’t have a clue they are hurting each other, but I still get very angry.
So upon reading some little twerp bit my baby’s finger really pissed me off. My temperature rose a few degrees, and I could feel my face getting red.
Why weren’t they watching them?
What the hell is wrong with them?
The kids’ pockets are out in the hall so I charged into the toddler room and quickly swept Moose up in my arms who happily giggled and cooed. How could they possibly let some hellion hurt MY CHILD? Idiots.
My friend Chelsea met me at the door and quickly asked me, “so did you read about the bite?” And I bit off, “uh yea, somebody bit Wesley?” She looked confused.
“No. Wesley bit somebody.” She said.
Oh. Shit.
It felt like someone splashed me with cold water.
Crap.
My kid bit someone? Shit.
“…and he bit really hard. He made the kid bleed.”
Oh gawd. Seriously?
I stuttered out something like, “Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! Is he or she okay?”
Chelsea said, “Oh yeah, the kid is fine, but we had to put Wesley in his crib for a little while so he would calm down.”
Oh gawd. I felt awful! Of course later I re-read the accident report and it clearly states the Wesley bit the other kid, but I just skimmed it and assumed! I mean, my perfect angel would never do something like that, right? Wrong-o.
I kept apologizing as we got packed up, and they said that it wasn’t a big deal, the kid was fine and such. I also noticed later that they didn’t name any names on the sheet, except for Moose’s of course. So I don’t know who he bit. Maybe it’s better that way. I felt so guilty.
The teachers must have felt a little bad about writing the note, or they may have thought I would be upset because it seems they over compensated on his daily sheet for the day, saying, “…fun filled day. Very active, cute and sweet as always.” Hmmm. Well not totally sweet.

OH, I'm sure that kid is fine. It would have been TOTALLY different if someone had bitten our Wesley, though. Straight to the emergency room!!!!

Yikes! Don't you hate it when you jump to the wrong conclusion! That other kid was clearly bothering Wes and he was reducing to biting! I mean, he was obviously fighting some kid off! You do what ya gotta do...even if it involves biting or pulling hair!! :)
Well, clearly your child's teeth are in working order -- I hope yours are now, too! Good luck to Cory tomorrow (even though he doesn't know me).

Be... erm, nice. My fragile ego can't take too much honesty. Seriously though, I do love comments. Please tell me what you think!
