Christmas 08

We have had a great holiday. I got off work a bit early the day before Christmas Eve, and went to work getting ready for Christmas Eve dinner, and baking the rest of the sugar cookies to be decorated on Christmas Eve. See the recipe I use here in my What’s Cooking section.
We had a very non-traditional Christmas Eve dinner of hearty meatball subs, rich bourbon glazed carrots, and delicious parmesan potatoes. It was very yummy. Then we sat down to decorate cookies to leave out for Santa. Moose enjoyed decorating them, but also quite enjoyed eating them:) This was a tradition we started last year, and were very happy to continue.
After Moose went to bed, Cory and I exchanged our small gifts. We made a recent decision together about focusing most of our money and efforts during Christmas on Moose. I got Cory a bottle of Crown Royal Cask #16, a special bourbon which he has coveted for about six months, and some high ball glasses for his bar downstairs. He got me some pretty little earrings, and a new bath set from Bath & Body.
Christmas morning Moose woke up at the crack of dawn, (who am I kidding?), dawn had not even actually broken yet. But I had no problem hopping out of bed to watch him open the presents Santa brought.
I’ve totally gone blank on what I made for breakfast now, but I think I made biscuits and gravy or something.
Then we had a very nice video chat with my MIL, and Moose relished showing all his toys from Santa. It was good to see them, they (and us!) have been busy the last couple weeks. They have like, a foot of snow or something crazy like that. Our poor little town would shut down in disbelief if that happened here. It was about 50 degrees on Christmas here. Oh I cannot believe this, I just glanced out the front windows and saw this:

Have I cursed us all? Strangely enough our forecast does not even mention snow. Hmm.
Anyhoo.
So we headed over to M&Ds on Christmas Day after talking to MIL on video chat. We opened the unbelievable pile of gifts, and then had a traditional turkey lunch. It was lovely.
We headed home shortly after, for nap and Mommy and Daddy Time. Also lovely. Cory and a new game, and I had some new pots to caress and gaze upon.
The best Christmas gift of the year? Hands down the new toaster oven. Who knew a toaster oven could be the best gift? Apparently Mimi. We use that thing with almost every meal. Seriously. Toasted pop tarts at breakfast, toasted sandwiches at lunch, toasted bread with dinner. Fabulous I tell you. FABULOUS. Cory fell in love with the one we had in our condo in Florida, because you could put bread and cheese in it together! Apparently Mimi noticed.  It is so silly, but we really all love it.
I hope you all had a good holiday as well. I am off work until Friday this week, so I am hoping to put some work into the website, building a video page. To be truthful, the last two days of this week that I had off, and was solo, I mostly did a lot of shopping and reading in blessed silence. But now Moose is home with me for the next two days, so the silence is.. over. But that is okay, it looks like we may get to sled later.
Talk to you in the New Year!

Be... erm, nice. My fragile ego can't take too much honesty. Seriously though, I do love comments. Please tell me what you think!
